LEICESTER No.1 Ryan Douglas has been ruled out of Monday’s clash with Ipswich at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park.
Douglas was involved in a frightening crash in Poland on Sunday during the Lodz/Poznan fixture, where he came to grief after a race in an attempt to avoid a slowing opponent in front of him.
He did manage to complete the meeting in pain, but is battered and bruised and will be unable to race on Monday.
Having seen footage of the incident, Leicester were aware of the situation and made contingency plans, and we would like to thank Sheffield’s Josh Pickering for agreeing to step in and guest against the Witches.
Pickering will race at No.1 on Monday and the Watling JCB Lions will monitor the fitness of Douglas ahead of the return fixture at Foxhall on Thursday.
LEICESTER: Josh Pickering, Kyle Howarth R/R, Sam Masters, Dan Thompson, Nick Morris, Drew Kemp, Joe Thompson.
IPSWICH: Tom Brennan, Danny King, Richard Lawson, Scott Nicholls, Tobiasz Musielak, Kevin Juhl Pedersen, Jason Edwards.
