MONDAY UPDATE: MITCH STEPS IN

LEICESTER will be without vice-captain Kyle Howarth for their ROWE Motor Oil Premiership trip to King’s Lynn on Monday.

Howarth crashed in his final ride of the Watling JCB Lions’ win over Sheffield on Thursday, and was signed out with concussion which carries a mandatory nine-day absence from racing.

Despite increasing his average this season, Howarth drops to reserve from Monday under the new June averages, and that means the Lions must bring in a guest in that position.

Manager Stewart Dickson has called up Oxford’s Australian youngster Mitch McDiarmid, who picked up some Premiership experience last year when the Cowley club ran in the top-flight, including a meeting at the Adrian Flux Arena. He also hit double figures for the Cheetahs in the Championship on Wednesday.

Rider replacement will be in operation for Dan Thompson, who could be back in action for the home clash with Ipswich on June 11 should he successfully come through practice sessions over the coming days.
