PREVIEW: BUXTON v LION CUBS

LEICESTER Lion Cubs have an opportunity for more early season track time when they visit Buxton in the first leg of their NDL Challenge on Sunday (3pm).

The Lion Cubs already have two points on the board in the WSRA NDL after their win over Middlesbrough last week, with their next league fixture not scheduled until May 20 when they travel to King’s Lynn.

The trip to the Hi-Edge Raceway was originally planned to be the second leg of the challenge, but after a rain-off at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park, it now becomes the first leg.

The Lion Cubs will be at full strength and they name an unchanged riding order from the victory over the Tigers.

Buxton are yet to name their full line-up for the NDL season, with one spot to fill, and on Sunday they are without Jack Smith and Jamie Etherington due to Championship commitments.

Jack Roberts and Alex Spooner have been named in the Bulls’ side this weekend with rider replacement in operation for Smith.

It will certainly be a useful fixture for the Lion Cubs as they look to gain track knowledge at a venue which prior to this month had not staged speedway since 2018.

Lion Cubs manager Jen Crossland said: “Some of the elder riders in the side have been there before, and obviously Ben Morley will have ridden there on several occasions.

“For most of us it’s a case of having a look at things when we get there and we’ll prepare for it as best we can.

“We’re looking forward to racing there and we have a team that definitely wants to win!”

BUXTON: Alfie Bowtell, Arran Butcher, Jack Roberts, Alex Spooner, Jack Smith R/R, Luke Harris, Jack Shimelt, Bailey Fellows (no.8).

LEICESTER: Ben Morley, Tom Spencer, Max Perry, Ryan Ingram, Freddy Hodder, Eli Meadows, Seth Norman.
