LEICESTER are pleased to announce both Max Perry and Ryan Ingram will return for the Lion Cubs in the National Development League this season. Both riders were part of the 2025 team, and the club are delighted to have them on board once again for the forthcoming campaign. Perry, 18, first rode for the Lion Cubs in 2022 when they won the league title, and this will be his fourth season with the club. He returns on an average of 7.82, and he has further incentive to score heavily after surprisingly missing out on a Championship place for the start of the season. Team manager Jen Crossland said: “It was a shame that Max missed so many meetings for us last season because of injury and commitments elsewhere, but when he was available he did a great job, and we’re pleased to have him back. “I also felt he really came out of his shell in terms of working with the rest of the team, and people need to remember he’s still a young rider who has also suffered setbacks. “There’s still an awful lot more potential with him and we’re happy that he and his dad want to be at Leicester again this year.” Meanwhile Ingram, who recently turned 16, was one of the big successes of last season after coming in as a newcomer and constantly improving throughout the year. He finished with an average of 5.18 with his rate of progress seeing him come to the attention of Championship club Scunthorpe who have also signed him for 2026. Crossland said: “It’s amazing that Ryan was actually worried this time last year that he wouldn’t be able to get around Leicester, and then look what he achieved in his first season! “He was a real success story and the improvement he made as the year went on was exceptional, and that was shown by him also picking up a Championship place for 2026 after just one season in the NDL. “There was never any doubt that we’d want him back for the Lion Cubs and I’m sure he’s going to improve further.” Perry and Ingram join Freddy Hodder and Tom Spencer as confirmed starters, and the final three members of the team are due to be announced early next week. |
