DOUGY DOMINATES IN QUEENSLAND

LEICESTER star Ryan Douglas made a flying start to 2025 with victory in the weekend’s Darcy Ward Invitational event at North Brisbane Speedway.

Douglas had been forced to miss the Australian Championships in January after suffering ankle ligament damage in a motocross crash, but he was the class of the field on his return.

His gating was far superior to his opposition and he reeled off four wins in the qualifying races, which were cut short due to a crash involving Tate Zischke and Reid Battye which caused a lengthy delay.

But Douglas still dominated the Final when the action got back underway, and he topped the podium ahead of Edinburgh’s Kye Thomson and new Scunthorpe signing Declan Kennedy, with Workington’s Jacob Hook fourth.

Douglas said: “A nice way to start my 2025 season. Having withdrawn from the Australian Solo Championship with an injury, it was nice to get the win.”

The Watling JCB Lions racer stages his Testimonial meeting at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park on Saturday March 22 (4pm).
