LEICESTER vice-captain Sam Masters reached the semi-finals in his one-off wild card Australian Championship appearance on Wednesday.
Masters raced in Round 3 of the series at Albury and scored a solid ten points from his qualifying races to be placed comfortably in the top eight.
Unfortunately he missed out in the second semi at the expense of Brady Kurtz and Rohan Tungate, after Josh Pickering had been excluded for touching the tapes.
Tungate went on to win the meeting ahead of Kurtz, Chris Holder and Ben Cook.
With the fourth round of the series in North Brisbane this weekend already cancelled due to an adverse forecast, Kurtz was confirmed as clear winner overall, whilst Jack and Chris Holder completed the top three.
Watling JCB Lions skipper Max Fricke had already taken the decision to end his involvement in the series for this year following his crash in Round 2 at Mildura.
