LEICESTER Speedway would like to take the opportunity to thank the members of the Lion Cubs’ 2024 team who are moving on this winter.
The club have had to rebuild under the 38-point limit whereas the title-winning side finished on a total of 47.46, so several changes have been necessary.
The Lion Cubs have been led superbly over the last three seasons by Joe Thompson. Unfortunately, with a 10.29 average, we felt we would be unable to include him in 2025 and still have a balanced side.
We thank Joe for his superb service to the Lion Cubs dating right back to 2019, including three league titles, and for the support he has always given to the younger riders. He has been a model captain, and we wish him all the very best for 2025 in the Championship with Plymouth.
Also leaving the club are Vinnie Foord, Tom Spencer, Arran Butcher and Luke Crang, and we thank them for their efforts in helping to make us NDL champions again this year.
Vinnie and Tom have both been a big part of the Lion Cubs in recent years, with Tom already having Championship and NDL places for 2025 at Redcar, and Vinnie confirmed in the Championship with Workington. We wish them well and look forward to seeing them with their new clubs.
Arran and Luke both joined the Lion Cubs for 2024 and very much played their part in our title win. Arran has already signed for Oxford next year, and we wish both all the best for the future.
