LIONS v SHEFFIELD, PREVIEW

SAM Masters aims to kickstart Leicester’s play-off push by exacting revenge on ROWE Motor Oil Premiership champions Sheffield on Thursday (7.30pm).

The Watling JCB Lions welcome the Tigers to the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena having narrowly lost the first clash of the rivals in April followed by a 50-40 defeat at Owlerton in May.

But with precious points in the chase for a top-four finish on the line, and the other two members of the top three heading to Beaumont Park later this month, Masters says it is time for Leicester to up the ante.

“Sheffield will be tough, they gave us a bit of a flogging there earlier in the year and it is time to gain revenge,” he said.

“We will be going hard for that, we have to pull our socks up if we want to make the play-offs.

"We have a good team, we just haven’t put it all together or managed to click often enough this year.

“Everyone is giving everything they have, we are all doing our best and hopefully that effort shows and the form starts to turn around. Once we click, I think we will be a really hard team to beat.

“We haven’t had a home meeting for a long time so it is really hard to find the flow but we are not the only team in that situation. Once we relax and find our feet, start winning races consistently, we can beat anyone.

“We have a run of home meetings now and the team to do it, we just have to make it happen.”

The Lions will be at full strength, while Sheffield are again without Jack Holder and Tai Woffinden following their spills in the Grand Prix in Gorzow on Saturday.

Rider replacement will be utilised for Holder, while Troy Batchelor guests for Woffinden.
