With the ever spiralling costs of racing speedway, the new committee of the Leicester Speedway Supporters’ Club have decided to increase their support for the Lions team next season.
In what is seen as a first for Leicester Speedway, the Supporters’ Club will sponsor the cost of a new rear tyre for each team member at every away Premier League fixture next season.
“Fans backed the 50/50 draw at the Beaumont Park Stadium on match days during 2011 which delivered benefits to the Lions team and I am delighted to say that due to its success we will repeat the scheme next season which will enable us to sponsor a rear tyre for all seven riders at every League away meeting” commented Sandra Kemble the Chairperson of the Supporters Club.
The Lions team manager Jason Attwood who has been working alongside the Supporters’ Club committee over the details of the initiative, said: “The rules of British Speedway dictate that all riders must start a meeting with a new rear tyre which comes at considerable personal expense to them, so the initiative has been warmly received by each member of the team”.
