LIONS V PLYMOUTH (PL) - PREVIEW

The Elliott sponsored Lions face possibly one of the dark horses for a play-off place later this season when they meet the Plymouth Devils at Beaumont Park Stadium on Saturday.

The two teams last met at Leicester in May in a League Cup fixture when the Lions ran out winners by a single point. That night Ryan Fisher was in unbeatable form winning all five of his races for Plymouth and the Californian has the best record of any visiting rider at Leicester. The Devils have made one change to their team since that night with the signing of Robert Ksiezak coming in to replace Gino Franchetti at reserve.

“In my opinion Plymouth are just one rider away from being a very good side and teams will underestimate them at their peril. We have seen at close quarters what they are capable of away from home and we all have to be on our game to get something out of the fixture. When you consider that Ben Barker and Ryan Fisher are easily capable of twenty-five points between them this means that their five teammates do not have to contribute a great deal to pull off a win. This is the challenge that we face on Saturday and I will be looking to our three heat leaders, Kauko Nieminen, Magnus Karlsson and Lasse Bjerre to take points off their top two riders” said the Lions Team Manager Glyn Taylor.

The fixture marks the start of three home meetings for Leicester who will be keen to put a disappointing performance at Newcastle on Sunday behind them and a win against Plymouth will maintain their position of third in the Premier League table.
