BELLE Vue collected their first win of the Elite League season in their home opener with a 55-37 success over Leicester at Kirkmanshulme Lane.
Aces skipper Scott Nicholls continued his strong start to the campaign with a score of 13+1, top-scoring for the fourth time in as many matches.
Matej Zagar added 10+1 in a solid team performance, with the Lions well served by guest Kyle Howarth (12) – but Grzegorz Walasek was withdrawn with a suspected fracture to his left hand after a crash in his second ride.
Belle Vue boss Mark Lemon said: “Getting off to a strong start at home was very important. The pressure was on after such a busy, point-less week and to come away with maximum points is just what the doctor ordered.
“On a personal level I feel a lot more comfortable after watching the boys tonight and hopefully they will be feeling a bit more relaxed after such a frustrating week. There was a good vibe around the pits going into the meeting and everyone seemed to gel together really well.”
