Neil Machin, who was part Leicester’s management team last season, has been re-appointed as Co-promoter of the Lions.
One of the most respected people currently in British Speedway, Machin successfully promoted the sport at Sheffield for almost twenty-two years before selling the Yorkshire club in 2014 to Damien Bates, the new owner of the Lions.
“I am looking forward to re-engaging with the Leicester Speedway folk. You could say that I personally feel a sense of unfinished business. This is a new era for the Leicester Lions and the new owners bring a fresh and youthful overview to the business. Having worked closely with them for the last three years, I believe that their energy and enthusiasm will add to the package of entertainment at Leicester this year and I look forward to again being part of a success story.”
Machin will renew his promotional partnership with David Darcy from last season and is already relishing the challenge of helping steer the Watling JCB Lions forward.
“David and I were always tuned into one another and one of our key objectives will be to restore credibility back into the club after the difficulties experienced last year. There is an air of optimism around Beaumont Park since the arrival of Damien Bates and I am enthused by the current capital project that is taking place to widen the race track in the first and second bends. This will undoubtedly improve the racing spectacle and I believe we have assembled a progressive and competitive team and with it the future looks bright” added Machin.
