KING'S LYNN 48 LIONS 42

SKIPPER Danny King suggested a tactical reshuffle may be in order after Leicester dropped an eight-point lead in a 48-42 defeat at King’s Lynn.

The Lions led for most of the meeting at the Adrian Flux Arena with flying duo Josh Bates and Danny Ayres dominating the lower order during the early exchanges.

By heat 10, Leicester had scored paid 15 from the reserve positions with their Stars counterparts mustering just one before a late turnaround.

Stars number six Kai Huckenbeck roared to back-to-back victories from gate four with support from Robert Lambert and then Nicklas Porsing to level matters.

King flew around the outside like so many riders from both teams had in a thrilling heat-13 battle which saw Lambert go close to collecting the British champion before pushing him all the way to the finish line.

That maintained parity but King's Lynn moved ahead for the first time in the penultimate race with King’s second spot in the nominated heat required to take something back to Beaumont Park.

It was the third time this season Lions had been leading late on only to be denied at the last with King determined to change his side's fortunes.

“It is great to come to places like this and get a point but it almost feels like a win lost rather than a point gained,” said King.

“We have been leading and by good amounts, eight or 10 points, in away meetings where people might not have expected much but late on, we just seem to lose it and we need to look at that.

"Maybe we need to tweak the riding order because we need to be stronger once we get into these good positions. We might not look one of the stronger teams on paper but we are proving ourselves on the track, we just need to take that next step.

“It feels like we have thrown it away. When you come back and fight hard for a point, you go home happy but when you’re eight up it feels very different.”

KING'S LYNN 48: Robert Lambert 13+1, Chris Holder 10+2, Kai Huckenbeck 8+1, Nicklas Porsing 6+1, Troy Batchelor 6, Lewis Rose 4, Josh Bailey 1.

LEICESTER 42: Danny King 9+1, Josh Bates 8+1, Danny Ayres 6+2, Lasse Bjerre 6+1, Kim Nilsson 5, Kacper Gomolski 4, Erik Riss 3+2.
