LIONS V POOLE, PREVIEW

TEAM boss Jim Lynch insists Leicester “will be geared up to have a right go” when Poole visit Beaumont Park on Saturday (7.30) before backing his boys to upset the form book.

Lions have lost three out of four Premiership home meetings in 2017, including a 56-34 defeat against the much-fancied Pirates at the start of April.

But having been encouraged by some good racing in the close call against Rye House last weekend, Lynch is feeling positive about the visit of one of British speedway’s biggest names.

“It doesn’t worry me,” said Lynch. “We gave Poole the best track they’ll ever see last time and were missing a couple of riders.

“We will be geared up to have a right go at them. I don’t see it as the mighty Poole coming to town so we should feel nervous, I think they should be nervous about us.

“On paper, it might look an easy task but in spite of last week’s result, we come off the back of playing our part in a really good meeting. It is one we are looking forward to.”

This time, both teams will be without two regular faces with all four absences caused by the Under-21 Team Championship.

Wolverhampton’s Kyle Howarth is eligible to take the place of Erik Riss at number four by virtue of the five per cent supplement for home guest bookings. Mark Riss replaces Josh Bates.

For Poole, in-form Brady Kurtz is replaced by a third Wolves rider Rory Schlein while rider replacement operates for Jack Holder. The visit also sees the return to British speedway of Grzegorz Zengota.

Fans can also take in four heats of 250cc junior action as Leicester Cubs Dan and Joe Thompson take on Long Eaton, who will be represented by Jacob Clayton and Jordan Palin.

LEICESTER: Kim Nilsson, Jason Garrity, Lasse Bjerre, Kyle Howarth (guest), Danny King, Mark Riss (guest), Danny Ayres.

POOLE: Grzegorz Zengota, R/R Jack Holder, Kyle Newman, Rory Schlein (guest), Hans Andersen, Nicolai Klindt, James Shanes.
