POOLE V LIONS, PREVIEW

CAPTAIN Danny King is relishing being in the thick of the action as Leicester continue a busy June schedule at Poole on Wednesday (7.30).

For King, it is the first of four meetings in four nights for the Watling JCB Lions and Championship club Ipswich as the fixtures arrive in a flurry following Monday’s British Final.

The trip to Wimborne Road will be the fifth of six meetings in 21 days for Leicester with a journey to Somerset next up on Friday.

“It is good to be busy on the bike and I always feel more comfortable when I am consistently riding,” said King.

“I feel that if you’re on the bike regularly, you feel more relaxed and natural than if you have a week off when you feel rusty and not race sharp.”

King’s return from injury means the Lions are set to line up with a full team for the first time in four matches, while the hosts welcome guest Carl Wilkinson at reserve.

In a permanent change, Poole also track former Leicester rider Paul Starke at number three. He replaces Kyle Newman.

The rivals have already met twice at Beaumont Park this season with the Pirates plundering a 56-34 win in April before a 45-45 draw at the start of this month.

*King's full interview features in Pirate Pride, Poole's official race night programme which can be picked up at the track for £3.

POOLE: Grzegorz Zengota, Jack Holder, Paul Starke, Brady Kurtz, Hans Andersen, Carl Wilkinson, James Shanes.

LEICESTER: Kim Nilsson, Erik Riss, Jason Garrity, Lasse Bjerre, Danny King, Josh Bates, Danny Ayres.
