LEICESTER have swooped to bring British racer Kyle Newman into their side.
Newman, 25, was recently released by parent club Poole and has now been snapped up by the Watling JCB Lions.
He comes into the side as a replacement for reserve Danny Ayres and will make his debut in Friday’s trip to Somerset (7.30).
It has been a tough start to the season for Newman after he spent a spell on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.
But he is determined to play a big part in helping the Beaumont Park club climb the SGB Premiership table.
“I’m just thankful to the promotion and management for giving me an opportunity,” said Newman.
“I feel like my season hasn’t really got started yet. All I need at the moment is meetings, and once I get a run under my belt I know what I’m capable of.
“It’s been a tough start for Leicester, but they aren’t far away and I’d like to think I can help them climb the table.
“Hopefully we can start getting wins at home and turn the close results into solid wins. There have been some close away meetings as well, so if we can turn them into points we should be moving up the league in no time.
“We’ll try and get off to a good start on Friday and then put together a run of results over the next few weeks.”
