BATES RELISHING CARDIFF INVOLVEMENT

BRITISH youngster Josh Bates can’t wait to be involved on the biggest stage at Cardiff next month.

Bates, 21, has been named as a track reserve for the Adrian Flux British FIM Speedway Grand Prix at the Principality Stadium on July 22.

It is a huge opportunity for the Leicester and Sheffield rider to rub shoulders with speedway’s biggest stars.

And admits his call-up alongside fellow Great Britain squad member Adam Ellis is a huge moment in his career.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” Bates said. “It’s one of my life goals, to be at Cardiff. Even just to be a reserve is amazing and I can’t wait for it.

“I’m going all out to make it the best day possible, not just for me but for my sponsors as well because it’s a big moment for me.

“It’s going to cost me a bit more money, but I’m happy to do it because I know how big it is to be involved at Cardiff.

“If I was to get a ride it would just be incredible, but I’m just pleased to be involved in such a huge meeting.”
