LIONS 62 KING'S LYNN 28

LEICESTER recorded their biggest home victory at Beaumont Park with a stunning 62-28 Premiership win over King's Lynn.

After sharing the opening two heats, the Watling JCB Lions were rampant thereafter securing seven 5-1s in eight races to wrap up three more league points with five races remaining.

Despite the visitors tracking a patched-up side, it was nevertheless a brilliant display from Jim Lynch's men with five of the six riders achieving double figures.

One of whom was Lasse Bjerre, who scored a 12-point maximum just hours after declaring himself fit to race following a horrific crash at Swindon on Thursday.

Said Bjerre: "I wasn't feeling 100 per cent tonight but I wanted to get out there and do my bit for the team.

"It was a bit bumpy which didn't help my knee and it was different too because I couldn't do much digging on the start gate.

"But of course I'm delighted to win my four rides and hopefully I feel okay when I wake up in the morning.

"Whether King's Lynn had riders missing or not, we still had to go out there and race and we can still take a lot from this win tonight."

Skipper Danny King missed out on a paid maximum after missing the gate in Heat 15 while Erik Riss enjoyed another impressive performance on home shale.

Josh Bates secured six second places, four of which were behind his team-mates in 5-1 advantages.

Guest No.1 Josh Grajczonek reeled off three straight wins in the middle of his five outings while guest reserve Todd Kurtz often found himself in the higher scoring positions before dropping back in the latter stages of races.

The Lions are back in action next Saturday when Rye House are the visitors to Beaumont Park.
