RACEDAY UPDATE

LEICESTER could move off the foot of the SGB Premiership table on Friday – if they beat reigning top-flight champions Wolverhampton at Beaumont Park (7.30pm).

The Watling JCB Lions go into the meeting two points adrift of basement rivals King’s Lynn, whose losing sequence continued when they were beaten by Poole in Norfolk on Thursday.

It was a 12th defeat in 13 matches for the Stars, although they now have one home match remaining as their subsequent clash with Rye House as part of a planned double-header was rained off.

With King’s Lynn facing tough away trips to Belle Vue (Friday) and Wolverhampton (Monday), a Leicester win on Friday could well pile the pressure on the Stars to win the re-scheduled match with the Rockets in the fight to avoid both the wooden spoon and a relegation race-off against the SGB Championship winners.

Lions go into the meeting with David Howe guesting for Josh Bates, who is representing Great Britain in the World Under-21 Team Championship Final in Poland, whilst rider-replacement continues to operate for the injured Pawel Przedpelski.

Wolves are secure in the play-offs although their interest in top spot ended when they were beaten 52-40 at Swindon on Thursday, and they are scheduled to be at full strength albeit with a concern over reserve Nathan Greaves who crashed out at the Abbey Stadium.
