MARTIN Vaculik is counting down the hours to his Leicester debut at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena, Beaumont Park, tonight (7.30).
Slovakian star Vaculik warmed up for the season opener with Somerset, including World Champion Jason Doyle, by winning Simon Stead’s farewell meeting at Sheffield on Sunday.
And he said: “I’m very pleased to come to England and to be with Leicester and to win Simon’s meeting was the perfect start.
“I would like to congratulate Simon on a great career and he has become a very good friend of mine.
“Now I’m looking forward to Leicester and our meeting with Somerset. It’s a big night for us all and it’s very early in the season so I’ve not had much testing and training.
“It will be something new for me to be in the UK and I have a lot to learn and I’m really looking forward to it.”
The weather forecast is good for today and the track is in excellent condition after practice at the weekend – tapes up at 7.30 and a bumper crowd is expected.
