RACEDAY UPDATE

HANS Andersen reckons Leicester will relish home comforts in 2018 – even when facing Premiership champions Swindon tonight (7.30).

The Watling JCB Lions tackle Team GB boss Alun Rossiter’s Robins on the back of two home victories over Somerset and gaining a point from Wednesday’s trip to the Rebels.

There have been two team changes since then but Andersen has high hopes having discovered a new-found love for the Beaumont Leys circuit.

“Every team looks pretty solid this season and no matter who we are riding against we just have to do our own thing, especially when we’re at home,” said Andersen on the prospect of facing the top dogs.

“We have had two home meetings, the first was a challenge where we tried out a few bits but then everyone saw what we could do last Monday against Somerset.

“We feel pretty comfortable at home – not too comfortable because you can get turned over – that we have a pretty good set-up for our track. The riders like it.

“It is no secret that Leicester has not been one of my favourite tracks in the past, even though I’ve always managed to score here.

“The alterations they have made have helped me to enjoy it more and with it being my home circuit, I have to enjoy it.

“To get an away point so early in the season was very good, that will be great with what we want to do at our place. I have a lot of confidence we can do the job again.”

Kenneth Bjerre debuts at number one with fellow newcomer Todd Kurtz riding at reserve and Kyle Newman stepping up sooner than expected into the main body of the team.

Swindon will utilise rider replacement for David Bellego who is absent due to a family bereavement.

LEICESTER: Kenneth Bjerre, Kyle Newman, Danny King, Krystian Pieszczek, Hans Andersen, James Sarjeant, Todd Kurtz.

SWINDON: Nick Morris, David Bellego R/R, Troy Batchelor, Adam Ellis, Tobiasz Musielak, Zach Wajtknecht, Mitchell Davey.
