LEICESTER Lions team manager Simon Stead is taking the positives from a Bank Holiday double header with Belle Vue Aces after rebounding with a home win.
The Watling JCB Lions began their day by being drubbed 62-28 at the National Speedway Stadium, before the two teams headed from Manchester to Leicester.
Stead demanded better from his riders when the tapes went up at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena, where the hosts have been beaten just once in the SGB Premiership this season.
The reverse fixture was a different story as Lions prevailed 47-43, with a 5-1 from the Aces in the last heat earning them a bonus point.
Hans Andersen led the way for Leicester with a 10-point haul while returning captain Danny King, No 1 Kenneth Bjerre, Krystian Pieszczek and Todd Kurtz all contributed eight.
Their efforts negated Aces dangermen Rohan Tungate, Max Fricke and Dan Bewley who racked up 13, 12 and 11 respectively.
Lions next head to Poole on Wednesday night, before a two-week break from action until Swindon Robins - the only team to beat them on their track in the league - are the visitors.
Stead said: “The away meeting wasn’t good enough by any stretch of the imagination. We came away worried about whether we were going to get turned over again.
“We needed an immediate response and having two meetings in a day gave us the opportunity to do that. It was as good as I could have asked for.
“The scoreline could have been more convincing and we can take the positives from the victory, along with drawing a line under the defeat.
“I think there’s more to come from us, I’d like to be winning by greater margins so I’m not 100 per cent happy with where we are. Certainly, our away form needs to improve.
“It was nice to see Danny do well back on our home track, he was really disappointed with his performance at Belle Vue but he, perhaps, needed a meeting to get settled in again.
“He, deservedly, got rider of the night, but all of the lads chipped in. They’ve all tried hard and given it their best shot. It’s onwards and upwards for us now.”
