HUME TO SKIPPER LION CUBS

LEICESTER are pleased to announce Danyon Hume will take the captaincy of their National League team this season.

Hume is a previous title winner with Birmingham, and at 22 he starts as the eldest member of a youthful Roger Webster Lion Cubs side.

He had talks with co-promoter and Lion Cubs boss Dave Darcy during a recent practice session at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena, and is delighted to take the role.

Hume said: “I’m really looking forward to the season with Leicester, and being asked to be captain was an honour really.

“I’m a really positive person, I feel I can help anyone in the camp whose head is down, get it back up and get them back in the game. It’s a little bit more pressure, but I feel I can handle it.

“I think the team looks really good and we should have a good season.”

The Lion Cubs will race their home matches predominantly on Saturday evenings when the senior Lions side are not in action.

However, the Cubs’ opening match on their own circuit comes on Sunday May 12 when they face Mildenhall in the KO Cup – two days after a trip to Plymouth in the league.

Admission prices for National League matches have been confirmed as £12 adults, £10 OAPs, and under-16s free, whilst Lions season ticket holders will be admitted to Cubs matches for £10.
