LION CUBS V BELLE VUE COLTS - PREVIEW

BELLE Vue beware – Leicester’s dynamic duo Dan and Joe Thompson are targeting even bigger returns in Saturday’s National League clash (7.30) on the back of dream debuts.

The 15-year-old twins weighed in with 18 between them as the Roger Webster Lion Cubs ripped apart Mildenhall Fen Tigers 55-34 in a Knockout Cup curtain raiser on Sunday.

It was a performance that inspired an army of fans to stay behind and show their appreciation but hard-to-please Dan reckons they can improve on that impressive haul by nailing the set up earlier when the Colts come to town.
“We have ridden with a lot of these riders before on practice days when we were younger so we know we can beat them,” said Dan.
“It was difficult at the start with our gating but in the end we fixed that and started to get a lot more points.
“The aim is to score a few more points here and there and find the set up a lot quicker than we did against Mildenhall and keep mixing it.”

Opportunities to shine should be in bountiful supply again with rider replacement in operation for Jamie Halder who was injured in his first outing against Mildenhall.

Leicester’s six-man side tackles a septet from Belle Vue that features three stand-ins.
Plymouth’s Ben Wilson and Stoke’s Tom Perry take the top two positions with Leon Flint and Kyle Bickley on Championship duty with, while Sam Woolley replaces the injured Paul Bowen.
