LEICESTER’S move to sign Victor Palovaara has collapsed.
But the club have also revealed how they are in talks with a newcomer to British Speedway and are confident a deal will be concluded within the next few days.
Palovaara was due to come in as a replacement for the injured Josh Bates.
Watling JCB Lions asked permission from Edinburgh, under the impression he was their rider this season.
But after leaving Armadale after a short stint he reverted back to parent club Glasgow who have told Leicester they can only sign him on a full transfer.
Leicester boss Stewart Dickson said: “We fully respect Glasgow’s wishes in this situation but regrettably we won’t be taking the matter further.
“We are not in a position to purchase the rider at this time and we have informed Victor. It’s unfortunate for the boy but he understands.
“We are now in talks with another rider new to British racing and we should have him in place for next weekend in the big home meeting with Sheffield.”
Leicester’s home meeting with Glasgow tonight is off due to the weather and a new date will be confirmed in due course.
