LEICESTER are looking to continue their surge towards top spot in the Championship this weekend – and club bosses want to see more people backing their bid.
Unbeaten at home so far, the Watling JCB Lions face Scunthorpe in the city on Saturday night – their regular racenight – with a big crowd needed.
Co-promoter Neil Machin said: “This is the first time in the modern era of the sport in the city that Leicester Speedway have produced a consistent winning team.
“But speaking to the owners I know they are slightly surprised not more people are coming to support the team and we need that to change – starting this Saturday.
“We need the people of Leicester and surrounding areas to come along to Beaumont Park and experience professional motorsport at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena with a winning Leicester team.
“Scunthorpe are a strong outfit and they will make it tough so I’m expecting a very stern test.
“Stewart Dickson will have the boys fired up for this one and the owners feel he and the riders deserve more support than they are getting.
“We should also add the fans who are backing us are excellent. We can’t thank them enough. But we need more of them and we remind everyone it’s kids for free.
“It’s a big night for us on Saturday. There’s no Grand Prix on TV and I’m sure we will see a very competitive meeting.”
