IT’S time to back Leicester’s bid for national glory – that’s the message from manager Stewart Dickson.
The city club have finished top of the Championship table heading into the play-offs to decide the new league champions.
And this weekend they race in the club’s first major final of the modern era as part of one of the biggest spells in their proud history, including the Blackbird Road days.
Watling JCB Lions face Eastbourne over two days for the Championship Shield – starting in Sussex on Saturday with the second and deciding leg at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena (Beaumont Park) on Sunday at 5pm.
And as if that wasn’t enough, their youngsters are also hunting glory as they face the Isle of Wight at home on Tuesday needing a win to also finish top of the National League.
Said Dickson: “I wish to praise my riders on finishing top of the championship, a magnificent effort after our injury problems this season.
“We are the league winners but now must try and become league champions!
“We have a cup final this weekend and for now that is our priority, the play offs will have to wait for now.
“We know we have won nothing yet and the real hard work is almost upon us. I would urge every Leicester supporter to come out in force this Tuesday and next Sunday as the Lions and Cubs try to create history.
“I would also urge the people of Leicester and surrounding areas to come and back this remarkable bid for glory.”
