JOSH IS THE MAN FOR FINAL TEST

LEICESTER boss Stewart Dickson has booked Josh Pickering to replace injured Richie Worrall in this weekend’s Championship Shield Final.

Dickson admits he is ‘proud’ of his side for finishing top of the Championship table and they face Eastbourne over two meetings this weekend in a bid to win the Shield.

It’s the first major final the club have reached since 1975 when they were beaten by a Peter Collins-inspired Belle Vue in the Speedway Star Cup Final.

Watling JCB Lions head to Sussex for the first leg on Saturday and the return and deciding leg is at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena, Beaumont Park, on Sunday (5pm).

A bumper crowd is expected as the club look to make history ahead of the play-offs.

Said Dickson: “It’s great to finish top of the league but we now have to focus firmly on this weekend.

“We’ve secured the services of Josh Pickering to replace Richie Worrall in both meetings and we are sure he can do a fine job for us.

“He’s done well here this season and scored 10+2 against us for Edinburgh so he’s a good choice in my view.

“It’s getting closer to the big weekend and we need the fans to come along and get right behind the boys.”

Watling JCB Lions fans travelling to support the team at Eastbourne on Saturday can enjoy discounted admission of £10 on production of either a 2019 Season Ticket or a current Leicester Speedway Supporters Club membership card.

Proof of identity is required at the turnstile and entrance to the Stadium is via the 'Disabled Entrance.'
