CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFF LINE-UP CONFIRMED

TABLE-TOPPING Leicester, the new Championship Shield winners, have picked Redcar as their opponents in the semi-finals of the play-offs.

Watling JCB Lions boss Stewart Dickson has spent the last few days looking at his options and has now confirmed the tie will take place over two successive nights.

Redcar will stage the first leg at the Media Prima Arena on Friday, September 27 with the return at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena, Beaumont Park, the following evening.

Dickson has also confirmed he has secured the services of Richard Lawson to cover for the injured Richie Worrall.

It means the other semi-final will be between second placed Glasgow and Somerset with dates to be announced by the respective clubs soon.

Said Dickson: “I think these will be two cracking semi-finals between four superb teams and from our point of view at Leicester we’ll be treating Redcar with the greatest of respect.

“It should be a tremendous two nights of racing and I’m sure the Glasgow and Somerset fans have a real treat in store as well with two cracking ties ahead there too.

“It’s been great reading all the messages about our Championship Shield win and I have to say Eastbourne were most gracious in defeat, but it’s now time to start focussing on the play-off semi-finals.”
