LEICESTER BOSS – FANS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

BOSS Stewart Dickson has issued a rallying cry to all Leicester supporters ahead of this weekend’s play-off semi-final against Redcar.

The Watling JCB Lions head to the Media Prima Arena on Friday (7.30) in the first leg, before returning home on Saturday (7.30) for the decider.

And Dickson is hoping the Leicester faithful get behind the team and roar them on to a second major final of the year.

Dickson said: “The crowd for the Shield Final was amazing, all the fans came out in force and were extremely vocal throughout.

“Hopefully we see a similar size of crowd, if not bigger for the play-offs. If we can keep it close at their place and come home in touching distance then I’m sure we’ll have
Beaumont Park rocking come Saturday night.”

After making club history with their first-ever item of national team silverware just two weeks ago in the Championship Shield Final, riders and management have immediately set their sights on completing a double with the prestigious Championship title.

However, Dickson isn’t getting too far ahead of himself, insisting focus must be on the next meeting rather than the end-goal.

“The play-offs are the holy grail for everybody - it’ll be a tough tie against Redcar but we’ll go into both the meetings fully focused,” added Dickson.

“We’ve got to focus on the task at hand and not think too far ahead of ourselves.

“The plan is to go up there and win but if we can’t then we’ll aim to keep it as close as possible.

“We have the riders that can go up there and win on that track - we’ve done it already and if all the boys are firing then there’s no reason why we can’t bring a lead back home for the Saturday.

“They’ve got a great team and so have we so it’s going to be tough but we’ll certainly give it a good go.”

LEICESTER’S National League play-off first leg against Cradley at Birmingham next Wednesday sees admission slashed to £10.

The Roger Webster Lion Cubs head to Perry Barr in the first leg of the semi-final with the return at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena the following Saturday (5.30) as the first part of a double header with Stoke.
