EARLIER START ON SATURDAY

LEICESTER’S big Championship semi-final with Redcar on Saturday will start one hour earlier than scheduled.

Club bosses have confirmed a 6.30 start to give the meeting every chance to reach a conclusion with rain expected later in the evening.

Watling JCB Lions are eight-points down from the first leg and are looking for a place in the final with Glasgow awaiting the winners.

Boss Stewart Dickson said: “Once again we have studied several different weather forecasts and this is a logical conclusion to get the meeting on.

“It’s a massive meeting for us and we need to get it on because it’s been delayed already by rain. By starting one hour earlier we know we have every chance of getting through all 15 races and reaching a conclusion – which we hope will be a Leicester win!”

Dickson says it’s a massive night for everyone connected with the club as they look to build on their Championship Shield glory by taking the league title.

Steve Worrall has been booked to step in for twin brother Richie and Dickson admits a good start will be needed by his side.

“Redcar have done well this season and we know they will be a stern test for us,” he said. “But this is yet another massive night in the history of Leicester Speedway and we need the fans to come along and get right behind us – we’ve worked hard all year, finished top of the table and we are aiming for the Grand Final. A good start would help.”

Fans are reminded tickets remain on sale for the club’s end of season presentation night at Leicester County Cricket Club on Saturday October 26 and can be purchased from the club shop.
