LEICESTER title winner Joe Lawlor will be back with the club next season – at National League level!
Lawlor came into the senior Watling JCB Lions team midway though the 2019 campaign when Jack Thomas quit, and battled away to several important points, most notably in the Grand Final against Glasgow.
He completed a move to Redcar earlier this winter but will now take his place with the Roger Webster Lion Cubs after previous NL spells with Belle Vue, Cradley and Stoke.
Promoter Stewart Dickson said: “Joe was unlucky to miss out on a place with the Lions for 2020 because of the emergence of the Thompson twins.
“He won a Championship medal with us, along with the Championship Shield, and we’re happy he managed to get fixed up at Redcar.
“But because of the unfortunate demise of Stoke he was available and looking for a National League place.
“We did a deal with him pretty quickly so he’ll come into the Cubs team as one of our heat-leaders, and it will be good for his development.”
Lawlor joins Dan and Joe Thompson along with newcomer Danny Woodward as confirmed starters for the Lion Cubs, with more news expected to follow in the near future.
