LEICESTER Speedway will host one of the biggest events on the domestic calendar this summer.
The Championship Fours has been allocated to the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena at Beaumont Park on Sunday July 19 – the day after the British Grand Prix at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
It means two major domestic dates on either side of the British Grand Prix with the Pairs at Somerset on the Friday night, July 17.
British Speedway Chairman Rob Godfrey said: “It’s going to be a bumper weekend of racing and by hosting the Fours at Leicester we hope to catch those fans travelling back from Cardiff on the Sunday.”
Watling JCB Lions co-promoter and team boss Stewart Dickson said: “We feel very privileged to host the Fours at Leicester, I believe geographically it makes sense and hopefully we are in for a bumper weekend of speedway.
“This is what British Speedway is all about and we at Leicester will be determined to make this a memorable day for all the supporters the day after Cardiff.”
Tickets for all major events will be available in advance from the British Speedway website – sales dates will be confirmed soon.
