LEICESTER SIGNING NICK COUNTING DOWN

AUSSIE ace Nick Morris is ready to make up for lost time with Leicester.

Morris has made the winter switch to the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena (Beaumont Park) after a tricky 2019 which saw his season delayed.

He suffered a wrist injury which forced him to sit out the opening weeks but he’s fit and raring to go as the Watling JCB Lions prepare for the defence of their Championship.

“I’m really keen to get started and I’m so pleased to be linking up with Leicester,” he said.

“Last season was a frustration for me which is why I need to make up for it and I feel riding regularly with Leicester and also in the Premiership at Wolves I’ll be on it.

“We have a good side at Leicester and I’m looking forward to meeting all the fans.”

Morris has the midas touch when it comes to league titles and is aiming for the seventh of his club career.

And Leicester boss Stewart Dickson is relishing the prospect of being reunited with a rider he knows well from his Glasgow days.

“For Nick, he had a bit of a difficult season last year with injuries and not coming back into racing until the end of May,” he said.
“He didn’t have a Championship club until later in the season, and I feel it will be good for him to be racing for two clubs.

“Nick was in my Glasgow team that won the league in 2011, and I do think we can get him back to where he should be.

Leicester take on Coventry in the Kleeford Coin Auctions East Midlands Bowl on Saturday April 11 at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena with plenty of Bees fans currently starved of speedway set to make the trip across the M69.

Hopes remain strong for a return to the sport for Coventry with their former Brandon Stadium home currently out of use.
