LEICESTER manager Stewart Dickson has hailed the club’s low profile owners.
Dickson has taken time out to heap praise on those who make the club happen and has underlined the work undertaken on the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena track during the winter.
Former Glasgow co-owner Dickson was brought back into the sport by the Bates family to enable them to take more of a back seat and he responded by delivering the league title.
Said Dickson: “We should thank our wonderful owners who invest in the club and allow me to do my job and I have loved every minute of my time with Leicester so far.
“The Supporters Club did amazing work last season and there are amazing sponsors who deserve our sincere thanks. Without them the task of running professional speedway in Leicester would be even harder. Andy at Watling JCB is a great friend of the club along with all other sponsors, too many to mention but they know who they are.”
Dickson is relishing the moment the sport gets the green light to launch a new season.
He said: “I’m looking forward to the time when we can start looking at the teams and predict who will finish where in the league table.
“You don’t realise what you’ve got until you lose it and all those critics of the sport should perhaps take a step back and consider their actions, particularly on social media, after this is over.
“I am looking forward to seeing racing on the newly prepared Paul Chapman and Sons Arena track. A lot of hard work went into it during the winter months, the club hired a blade to scrape it and smooth it and we haven’t yet had chance to reap the rewards. Let’s hope we get that chance in the summer.”
LEICESTER’S popular souvenir programme for 2020 is proving a big success despite no racing.
Issue 3 is on the way and will be out on Monday week, April 27, including a guest column from new signing Nick Morris, a Ty Proctor interview, retro pages with Alan Jones and Dickson’s latest column.
It will go on sale this Monday at curtis-sport.com where the first two issues remain in stock and available to complete the unique collection.
