TWINS GAIN U21 EXPERIENCE

LIONS youngster Dan Thompson finished a highly creditable seventh in Wednesday’s British Under-21 Final at Berwick.

Thompson scored in every ride in tough conditions at Shielfield Park to end on eight points, which would have been enough for a place in the semi-finals only for the closing stages to be cancelled due to the time curfew.

Brother Joe collected five points, hampered by mechanical trouble in his fourth ride when he could have expected to take at least a second place. The meeting was won by Dan Bewley.

The twins also made history by becoming the first riders to compete in all four British Finals in one season – the senior event, U21, U19 and the British Youth Championship… an achievement which is unlikely to be repeated given the unique nature of the 2020 season.

Meanwhile Kyle Howarth, a major signing for the Watling JCB Lions last winter, competes in the Peter Craven Memorial at Belle Vue on Thursday. Full live-stream coverage is available from www.sportcentral.tv .
