DOUGY – COUNT ME IN!

RYAN Douglas has sent a 'count me in' message to Leicester ahead of the new season.

Plans are in place to start in May and Douglas, who played a vital part in the club's double winning season of 2019, has pledged to return.

Jake Allen, a fellow Australian, announced last week he wouldn't be returning for either Ipswich or Scunthorpe due to ongoing uncertainty over the pandemic but Douglas, who continued his fine form with an individual win at Gillman over the weekend, remains keen to get back to the UK as soon as the green light is given.

He said: "I'm still keen to get back to England and start the season and will be on the first plane over once I hear we are good to go.

"I see no reason to be doing anything else when May comes around. Hopefully the vaccines will be working and England is back to something like normal as we have a lot of racing to look forward to.

"I've made no secret of wanting to be back at both Leicester and Wolverhampton. I feel at home at both clubs and I want to carry on the progress I made with both teams in 2019."

Douglas rode well to beat former Ipswich, Poole and Peterborough man Rohan Tungate in the final in Gillman after they were locked together going into the first turn.

Meanwhile Watling JCB Lions boss Stewart Dickson is on the road to recovery after being struck down with Covid.

He said: "It's been tough, but I'm starting to feel better now and thanks to all the Leicester fans for their messages.

"I'm hoping to press on with the team now and we should be in a position to make an announcement next week."
