NEW signing Hans Andersen is relishing the prospect of making his second Leicester debut this Saturday (July 10).
Andersen, who previously rode for the club in the top-flight three years ago, lines up for the Watling JCB Lions against Scunthorpe having signed to race in the Championship for the first time.
The Dane is already familiar with many of his team-mates as he has appeared in the same side as skipper Kyle Howarth and Nick Morris during previous spells with Coventry and Swindon – and youngsters Dan and Joe Thompson were the Lions’ mascots when he last rode at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena.
He comes into the line-up having enjoyed a solid start to the season with Premiership leaders Peterborough, who have defied expectations with their overall form so far.
Andersen said: “It feels really good to be back at Leicester as I really enjoyed my season there in 2018.
“I only didn’t re-sign as they dropped from the Premiership and me doing two leagues in the UK wasn’t possible at the time.
“I think we have a great team, and with the riders being mates too it just makes it even better.
“As regards winning the league, I’ve not seen many of the other teams – but I think we will take some stopping!
“I welcome being busier as I’ve always been a rider who rides at my best the more I race, and I can also say I’ll do the best I can for my team-mates off the track.”
Andersen will be joined by a second new arrival in the Lions’ side for the Scunthorpe match, with details of that move currently being finalised.
It’s a crucial meeting as the Scorpions are currently up in second place in the Championship table after an impressive run of home wins so far this season.
