RICHIE Worrall is heading back to Leicester for a second spell with the club.
Worrall makes a welcome return after spending this year with Edinburgh and links up with Nick Morris and Connor Mountain at the Beaumont Park club.
He says he’s thrilled to be back after making 14 appearances in the title winning 2019 season.
“I’m delighted to be back, I love riding for Stewart Dickson and I love riding for Leicester,” he said. “I’m thrilled to be sorted in the Championship and I’m looking forward to showing everyone the real Richie Worrall.
“I enjoyed my season at Edinburgh and they are a fabulous club, but a return to Leicester feels right. I don’t want to leave Edinburgh on bad terms and I wish them all the very best and look forward to catching up with friends up there when I go back with Leicester.”
Boss Dickson and Worrall will be reunited for a third spell working together after previous spells with Glasgow and at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena.
Dickson added: “I like working with Richie, and I think he likes working with me himself. He can be outspoken, but always for the benefit of the club and looking for the best, so I’m pleased to get him back.
“He comes in with just under an eight-point average, and I feel he can certainly improve on that, and push Nick (Morris) for the No.1 spot.”
Worrall missed out on title celebrations in 2019 because he finished the season injured.
This year with Edinburgh he made 18 appearances, scoring 168 points and 13 bonus points with a real time average of 8.20.
The Watling JCB Lions are making good progress with their team for the 2022 Championship season and more news is expected within the next few days.
