BOSS Stewart Dickson pulled no punches after Leicester endured a chastening 60-30 defeat at Plymouth on Tuesday.
The Watling JCB Lions mustered only two heat advantages all night as the Gladiators ruled out of the gate at the Coliseum.
Richie Worrall top scored with 10 from six rides and was generally on the pace, while the determined Kyle Howarth did what he could to spark a fightback with a last-gasp dive past Hans Andersen on the line to win heat seven.
That joy was short lived, though, with Ben Barker cruising to a six-ride full maximum and all six Plymouth riders claiming at least one chequered flag.
“Plymouth were very good, I congratulate them, but from our point of view this is something we are not used to,” said Dickson.
“This is our second consecutive heavy away defeat and I am not best pleased. It was very disappointing, we saw a lot of travelling fans here again and I feel for them.
“For one reason or another it just didn’t work. If you look through the scores you can see where the problems were and we are going to have to regroup.
“We know our home form is pretty decent but that’s two matches on the road where we have taken nothing and without being disrespectful, I think there are better teams in the league than Scunthorpe and Plymouth. A point at this sort of track should be the target for the Leicester team we have put together.
“We win together and lose together but I cannot see any positives to take when we come away from a meeting having scored 30 points.”
The Lions face a fourth meeting in eight days on Friday, travelling to Redcar in the Championship (7.30).
