STEWART Dickson has thrown down the gauntlet to Leicester ahead of their Championship trip to Redcar on Friday (7.30pm).
A pair of heavy defeats on the road have left the Watling JCB Lions smarting but the Teesside clash, followed by Saturday’s home showdown with Glasgow (7pm), represents an opportunity to quickly banish those bad memories.
Boss Dickson knows there will be little margin for error against a Bears side led by former Lion and 2019 British Champion Charles Wright but he is expecting a reaction.
“We have two tough fixtures coming up, this sport gives you no time to feel sorry for yourself and we have to be ready for Redcar and the visit of Glasgow,” he said.
“There were no injuries at Plymouth, that was the one good thing, and at least we don’t have to wait seven or 10 days for the next fixture but that will only be good if we can bounce back and show some sort of character.
“I had expected to see something at Plymouth after the Scunthorpe match, we spoke about it and I thought that disappointment would be a one off.
“We cannot let this continue. I know it is early in the season but these results have been a shock and we are going to have to pull together, get it sorted and start working a bit harder to put things right on our travels.”
Both teams have a full complement available with Leicester’s riding order unchanged from the meeting at Plymouth.
