LEICESTER are building up to their biggest weekend of the season – including a massive meeting at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena on Saturday.
The Watling JCB Lions host Poole in the second leg of the Championship Grand Final, with the two most recent title-winners going head-to-head for the silverware.
Lions were champions in 2019 when they defeated Glasgow in the Final, whilst in 2021 Poole knocked out Leicester in the semi-finals and then beat the Tigers to land the crown.
And underlining how the three clubs have dominated the league of late, Poole’s path to this year’s Final also included a semi-final win over Glasgow.
The first leg of the Grand Final showdown takes place at Wimborne Road on Friday, with the return the following night at 7pm.
Tickets are available from www.leicesterspeedway.com/ticketoffice with normal prices applying. Season tickets are not valid for this meeting.
Team boss Stewart Dickson said: “I know Poole are going to bring a big travelling support on Saturday, and we’re going to need the Leicester public right behind us, which I’m sure they will be.
“We’ll be doing everything we can to get a decent result at Poole on Friday and set things up for the second leg.
“We do know we need to be better than when we lost to them in the KO Cup, the riders know it, and I firmly believe we’re capable of doing so. I think it promises to be a thrilling Final between two very strong teams.”
In addition, the Lion Cubs will be busy too as they race their final regular league fixture at Armadale on Friday before making the trip to Mildenhall on Sunday for a double-header.
That meeting, which gets underway at 2pm, features the first leg of the NDL Grand Final followed by the second leg of the KO Cup Final, in which the Cubs hold a 55-29 first leg lead.
