WATLING JCB LIONS V KING'S LYNN, PREVIEW

LEICESTER look to get back to winning ways when they host King’s Lynn at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park on Thursday (7.30pm).

The Watling JCB Lions have had a mixed start to life at Premiership level but do have three league points out of four already on the board.

However, Belle Vue’s late comeback last week which saw them snatch victory in a Super Heat after a 45-45 draw is still a source of frustration and the Lions need to work on building a strong home record.

They face a Stars side who are under pressure after a heavy KO Cup defeat at home to Sheffield on Monday, with their management quite clearly showing their disappointment after the meeting.

The Norfolk club are a solid all-round unit led by former Lions rider Nicolai Klindt, and there are two changes to their regular line-up on Thursday.

Captain Josh Pickering, who has just dropped to reserve, misses out with injury and is replaced by Craig Cook, who can also be expected to be a real force in that position.

Elsewhere former World No.2 Krzysztof Kasprzak is racing in a re-arranged Ekstraliga meeting in his home country of Poland, and the Stars bring in Steve Worrall to guest.

Lions manager Stewart Dickson said: “What we’ve found to our cost so far this season is that you get punished for any mishaps in this league.

“We seemed to get away with that sort of stuff at home in previous years, but we can’t afford anything like that now.

“The track is riding very well, but it’s also my job to hopefully make it a bit more home-team friendly without going daft and changing it totally.

“We aren’t too far away but Thursday is a meeting that we definitely need to win. I’m mindful that both winning and losing can become a habit, and we need to be winning at home on a regular basis.”

Gates open at 6pm at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park, with the action getting underway at 7.30pm.

LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Justin Sedgmen, Richard Lawson, Chris Harris, Nick Morris, Jake Allen, Dan Thompson.
KING’S LYNN: Nicolai Klindt, Thomas Jorgensen, Frederik Jakobsen, Steve Worrall, Michael Palm Toft, Craig Cook, Jason Edwards.
