LEICESTER could have the chance to go level with second place in the NDL table when they host Edinburgh on Saturday (7pm).
The Lion Cubs grabbed a vital 47-43 victory at Armadale last Saturday and will now look to complete the double over the Monarchs Academy, a result which would be worth three points with the aggregate point also in play.
Should the Cubs collect the maximum available, they would go on to 11 points which could take them level with Oxford, and potentially Workington, depending on the earlier result when those two clubs meet at Northside on Saturday afternoon.
But they face an Edinburgh side who appear stronger on paper than in last week’s match at Armadale, with heat-leader Jacob Hook back to fill the No.5 position.
At No.1, former Lions rider Max Clegg is on an incredible winning streak in the NDL dating back to last season with Kent, and there should be some fierce battles with Leicester’s own top riders including the Thompson twins.
The Monarchs Academy have also re-declared former Lion Cubs rider Mickie Simpson into their line-up, and his match-up with last week’s hero Max James is another fascinating part of the meeting.
The Lion Cubs continue to operate rider replacement for broken arm victim Tom Spencer, whilst Kai Ward once again steps in for Vinnie Foord who is not yet ready to return from a broken wrist.
Manager Dave Howard said: “We will be looking to keep our home winning record going to pick up our first aggregate point of the season, in addition to the winning points.
“But Edinburgh will be a tougher challenge than last week with Jacob Hook back in their team, and also Mickie Simpson back.
“The team will be giving their all as usual to grab those league points.”
Gates open at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park at 5.30pm with the meeting getting underway at 7pm.
