PREMIERSHIP PAIRS LINE-UP

LEICESTER will be represented by Max Fricke and Justin Sedgmen in next Thursday’s Premiership Pairs at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park.

Team boss Stewart Dickson has elected to pair his regular opening-race combination who have secured a succession of 5-1s when riding together this season.

Sedgmen’s fast starting has proved a huge asset to the Watling JCB Lions, whilst Fricke quickly found his form after a tough start to the campaign and has led from the front as No.1 in the team’s recent winning run.

Dickson said: “There were a few possible choices, but the fact that they’ve been riding together as a pair means it made sense.

“Sedgy is our second-highest average rider around Leicester, and whilst it didn’t completely come down to stats he had another great meeting at Sheffield on Thursday. For me, when a rider is doing well, I’ll show faith in him.

“I ‘phoned him about it and told him – I never texted him, I ‘phoned him – and asked him if he wanted to take the booking, because sometimes riders maybe don’t want to do it.

“Sedgy took it, he was over the moon to get the call, and so he and Max will represent us next Thursday.”

The Lions will face competition from all six other clubs in the Premiership with several strong pairings declared elsewhere.

The meeting includes British Champion Dan Bewley for Belle Vue, and Sheffield’s Jack Holder who is currently second in the World Championship standings. Track specialists Richie Worrall (Peterborough) and Sam Masters (Wolverhampton) are also nominated by their respective clubs.

BELLE VUE: Dan Bewley and Brady Kurtz

The meeting draw will be conducted via a live BSN stream on Monday evening.
