Rory Schlein has confirmed his acceptance to race in the Pride of the Midlands at Leicester on Friday night.
The Belle Vue number one and former Coventry Bees rider heads what will be a competitive line-up for the first individual event to be staged at the Beaumont Park Stadium.
Further acceptances have been received including Shane Parker. This could be one of the last opportunities to watch Shane go through his paces on a UK track. After twenty-one years of gracing British Speedway the Adelaide born racer is planning on hanging up his kevlars for a life outside the sport.
The Elite League is further represented by Belle Vue Aces Patrick Hougaard and Wolverhampton’s Ty Proctor. One rider who will want to have a big say in the destination of the title is Ryan Fisher the captain of the Coventry Bees who returns for a third time to Beaumont Park. The Californian is rarely beaten on the Leicester track and will pose a serious threat to the aspirations of the other fifteen competitors.
Leicester’s captain Kauko Nieminen, together with Sheffield’s Ricky Ashworth who both finished on the rostrum at the Premier League Riders’ Championship Final in September, will face one another again on Friday. Kauko will be joined by his teammates Magnus Karlsson and Henning Bager whose home track knowledge should ensure plenty of excitement as they all compete for first place and title of Pride of the Midlands Champion.
Further names already confirmed are Chris Neath (Rye House), Matthew Wethers (Edinburgh) and Ludvig Lindgren (Berwick).
The final four riders are to be announced shortly.
