ELLIOTT UK TO SPONSOR THE LIONS

The return of speedway to Leicester last year was heralded as a great success and with the club on the verge of entering into their second season; the Lions will carry the name of a new team sponsor on their race jackets.

The team will now be known as the Elliott Leicester Lions after the two companies agreed a major team sponsorship deal this week and the partnership is seen to be a massive boost for the club and speedway in general as the Elliott Group are a global company and a market leader in their industry.

“We are delighted to support Leicester Lions Speedway and wish them well in the new season,” said Nigel Quinn, Divisional Director of Elliott Group. “We were closely involved in upgrading the facilities at Beaumont Park and are pleased to see speedway return to Leicester after an absence of 28 years. Sponsorship of Leicester Lions will ensure that Elliott is seen by the many thousands of people who regularly watch this highly popular sport.”

Promoter David Hemsley said: “Our association with Elliott UK stems back to a year ago during the final phases of the stadium build. We approached the company to discuss our requirements and were impressed with their extensive range of products, knowledge and in-house expertise. They understood our business needs and came up with the ideal solution which took our facilities at the Beaumont Park Stadium to a new level. We are delighted that the directors of Elliott UK have decided to support Leicester Speedway which will provide us with a platform to take the business forward and we will work closely with their staff to deliver a return on their investment”.

Fans will have an opportunity to watch the Leicester team go through their paces at a public preview show on Saturday 24th March at the Beaumont Park Stadium. The early part of the afternoon has been set aside for delegates from Elliott UK to meet the team for the first time and for the press to interview and photograph the riders. The gates will be open from 2.00pm with free admission for supporters to watch the team complete a number of practice laps and afterwards the riders will be available to talk with people and pose for photographs.
