LIONS V SCUNTHORPE (LC) - PREVIEW

The Harry Jordan Haulage sponsored Leicester Lions complete their home fixtures in the League Cup competition on Saturday with a visit from the Scunthorpe Scorpions.

The two clubs last met on Good Friday when Leicester pushed the home side to a last heat decider at the Eddie Wright Stadium in North Lincolnshire and the result in the return fixture is important to both teams to enhance their chances of being one of the four teams in the semi-final draw.

Leicester are buoyed by the inclusion of Magnus Karlsson who re-joins the club following the injury to Adam Roynon last week and he faces his old club on Saturday. “Magnus had a big following at Leicester during his eighteen months at the club and his return has been warmly received. Adam is still very much in our plans but competing with six of our riders up against a team of seven is not sustainable and as it is not clear how long Adam will be missing we had to move quickly to bring the Leicester team back up to strength” remarked the Lions Co-promoter, Alan Jones.

Scunthorpe are the Premier League Champions and have kept the nucleus of the side from last year with the only changes being at reserve where Josh Bates has been promoted from the lower tier of league racing and Ryan Douglas, a nineteen year old Australian, is a newcomer to British Speedway.
