The Harry Jordan Haulage Leicester Lions visit the team currently rooted at the bottom of the Premier League table on The Devon club have started the season with two defeats on the road at Redcar and Edinburgh and in the return the following night the Scottish club achieved the double.
Plymouth co-promoter Ashley Taylor says the club will keep faith with their current line-up for their fixtures against Leicester. “We will be taking a close look at things, especially with the new averages coming into force for the start of June, and want to make sure that any changes we make are the right ones for the Plymouth team.”
The Devils are led by the high scoring Australian Ty Proctor, who doubles up in the Elite League with Wolverhampton. Proctor is joined by their Swedish ace Ricky Kling, another rider with bags of Elite League experience from riding for the Poole Pirates last season and Mark Lemon who is still posting big figures despite celebrating his fortieth birthday earlier this year. Backing up their top three is Cory Gathercole who captain’s the side along with Todd Kurtz who recently starred for Australia in a World Under-21 Team Cup qualifier and recent signing Jake Anderson. Completing the side is Chris Schramm, the only British rider amongst a team of five Australians and a Swede!
“The Plymouth promotion has assembled a team that we thought would be a surprise package this year with plenty of experience and a dash of youth. Why it has not worked out for them so far is a mystery but we will not underestimate their capability especially around their own circuit where they have a very good record.” commented the Lions co-promoter Alan Jones.
Leicester will host the return fixture twenty-four hours later at the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium and have named the same side that completed a successful weekend’s racing with wins at home to Workington and away at Glasgow which propelled them into third place in the Premier League table. “The only positional change we have made for both fixtures is to switch the two reserves around so Alex Edberg moves to number six and Robert Branford to seven in the team for both fixtures” added Jones.
