STEWARDS QUALIFY

Over the course of this season the staff of the Leicester Lions Speedway Club have been working towards an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Spectator Safety.

The learning programme has been overseen by the Tess Group who have facilitated the development of knowledge and understanding of the key elements which underpin the role of an event steward. Two riders from the Lions team, Kevin Doolan and Simon Nielsen, were in attendance to congratulate the stewards on their achievement and to present them with their certificates.

“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to support and work with a growing sports business as the Leicester Lions Speedway Club. What really has impressed me is the enthusiasm of the people and their level of customer service which has been demonstrated through the learning process. I believe that it may be the first occasion that a speedway club in the UK has taken their staff through this qualification which is without doubt quite a prestigious occasion for everyone concerned and it enhances the reputation of the sport and furthers the enjoyment of a night out at a speedway meeting” commented Steve Laws, the Director of Quality for the Tess Group.

Andy Joyce Leicester Speedway’s Health and Safety Officer added, “I would like to place on record my congratulations to the stewards and car park attendants on gaining their qualification. Most of the staff are volunteers who give up their time for the love of the sport and take a great deal of pride in what they do. We are privileged to have such a dedicated team of people and they are a joy to work with.”
